Symeon von Radio Darkfire

Kurz vor meinem Geburtstag bekam Darkkisses eine CD zugespielt. Die Band nennt sich wie oben bereits steht „7th House Project“. Die Cover-Art lässt schon erste Ahnungen zu, die ich aber nicht vorwegnehmen möchte.  

Schon der erste Titel sagt klar: Downtempo, oder auch "Lounge" wie man heute zu sagen pflegt. Auffällig schon in der ersten Minute... Es gibt sogar sehr gut arrangierte Gitarrensounds. Eine markante Stimme mit leichten Vibes von Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode) meets Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters). Sie scheint der Beschriftung nach Sven Nickel zu gehören. Geschickt platzierte disharmonische Riffs geben dem Song „Beware Of Lies“ einen komplett individuellen Charakter.  

Der chillige Beat – teilweise sogar mit trockenen, mittig gestimmten Kickdrums zieht sich durch das ganze Album. 14 großartige Songs hat es. Allesamt durchaus tauglich, in einer angesagten Szene-Location gespielt zu werden. Gefühlvolle Instrumentalisierung, auffallend hell abgemischte Sounds (bestens auch für den Genuss mit guten Studio-Kopfhörern geeignet) und dadurch alles andere als „einschläfernd“ - ganz im Gegenteil.  

Weiteres Ohrenmerk möchte ich auf Titel Nummer 3 richten. Der Titelsong zum Album:“Insane“... Interessantes Intro mit Soundeffekten, die alle Erwartungen offen lassen. Dann ein cooler 4/4-Takt, und total virtuose und doch einladende Flächen. Bis sich schließlich die eigentliche Melodie hervorarbeitet und eine angenehme Stimme zur Musik gesellt.   

Weitere Songs sind • Not Your Normal Girl (mit offenbar SEHR gut trainierter Damenstimme, herausragende Gesangskunst!), • Time And Space, • Broomstick And Bitches (feat. Effluence), • Dragon's Breath (!!! ANHÖREN !!!), • Down (feat, Kate Dilemma, ebenfalls eine großartig ausgewählte Stimme), • It's Never Too Late, • One Thousand Times (noch einmal mit Sven Nickel)• In The Flowstone Cave   

Und den BONUS-Dancetracks, die einen in den Fußwippalarm versetzen:• Tribute To James T. Kirk• Down (Minimalhouse Remix)• Broomsticks And Bitches (Ready To Explode Remix)  

Alle drei lassen den Freund der eher tanzbaren Elektrosounds nur schwerlich stillsitzen. Treibender Beat mit wohlproportioniertem "Bummbumm" und eingängige Flächen wie Hooklines, elegant platzierte Effekte auf Vocals oder Ambient-Organs, Saxophon...  

Dieser Silberling ist gänzlich konträr zu seinem Titel … Alles andere als verrückt. Dieses Album sollte in keinem Regal fehlen, dass sehr gerne Downtempo, Ambient, Chillout und „Lounge“ beherbergt. Damit möchte ich 7th House Project keinesfalls in eine dieser Schubladen stopfen. Denn es zeigt klar und deutlich ganz eigene Charakteristika und einzigartige Spuren, die es (zum Glück) irgendwie in alle und irgendwo so richtig in gar keine passen lassen.  

Insane... Ist nur, wer sich diesen Silberling entgehen lässt.

Shortly before my birthday Darkkisses got a CD. The band is called "7th House Project". The cover art already gives me some first hints, but I don't want to anticipate them.  

Already the first title says clearly: Downtempo, or also "Lounge" as one likes to say today. Striking already in the first minute... There are even very well arranged guitar sounds. A distinctive voice with light vibes by Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode) meets Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters). It seems to belong to the label after Sven Nickel. Cleverly placed disharmonic riffs give the song "Beware Of Lies" a completely individual character.  

 The chilly beat - partly even with dry, center-tuned kickdrums - runs through the whole album. It has 14 great songs. All of them quite suitable to be played in a hip scene location. Emotional instrumentalisation, remarkably brightly mixed sounds (also perfect for enjoyment with good studio headphones) and therefore anything but "soporific" - quite the opposite.  

I would like to direct further attention to track number 3. The title song of the album: "Insane"... Interesting intro with sound effects that leave all expectations open. Then a cool 4/4 beat, and totally virtuoso and yet inviting surfaces. Until finally the actual melody comes out and a pleasant voice joins the music.   
 
Further songs are - Not Your Normal Girl (with apparently VERY well trained female voice, outstanding vocal artistry!), - Time And Space, - Broomstick And Bitches (feat. Effluence), - Dragon's Breath (!!!! LISTEN !!!), - Down (feat. Kate Dilemma, also a great selected voice), - It's Never Too Late, - One Thousand Times (once again with Sven Nickel) - In The Flowstone Cave   
 
And the BONUS dance tracks, which put you in the foot switch alarm:- Tribute To James T. Kirk- Down (Minimalhouse Remix)- Broomsticks And Bitches (Ready To Explode Remix)  
 
All three of them hardly let the friend of the more danceable electrosounds sit still. Driving beat with well-proportioned "Bummbumm" and catchy surfaces like hooklines, elegantly placed effects on vocals or ambient organs, saxophone...  
 
This silver disc is completely contrary to its title ... anything but crazy. This album should not be missing on any shelf that likes to accommodate Downtempo, Ambient, Chillout and "Lounge". I don't want to stuff the 7th House Project into one of these drawers. Because it clearly shows its very own characteristics and unique tracks, which (fortunately) let it fit somehow into all and somewhere really into none of them.  
 
Insane... It's only those who let this silver piece escape them.

The Real  Dr. Music

Groovige Klänge gibt’s vom 7th House Project. Das Kölner Label Heyband.com hat die Musik des deutschen Studio Projekts veröffentlicht. Der für die 14 Songs verantwortlich zeichnende Mastermind ist der Produzent Michael Niel, der sich zur Unterstützung die Dienste diverser Interpret(inn)en gesichert hat. Der Zuhörer begibt sich auf einen Streifzug durch die Historie der elektronischen Musik - nach dem acidjazzigen „Vampires!“ geht es mit dem ambienten Titelsong “Insane” auf die „kraftwerkige“ Bundesstrasse, die Ohren werden eingetaucht in den hypnotischen Untergrund („Not Your Normal Girl“), der vom gefühlvollen Gesang von Diane Jessurun veredelt wird. Das Youtube Girlie war zum ersten Mal vor 6 Jahren in den Focus meines musikalischen Interesses gerückt, als sie eine feine Cover Version des „Kansas“-Klassikers „Dust In The Wind“ gesungen und hochgeladen hatte. Mittlerweile sind über 150.000 User in den Genuss dieses Videos gekommen.

 Das Drum Program in „Broomsticks And Bitches“ erinnert mich stark an die von Jazzie B. generierten SIIS Grooves der 90er – die Stimme von EFFLUCENCE dagegen an inbrünstigen „Sprechgesang“ einer gewissen “Madonna”, wie sie ihn gerne zur Zeit ihrer „Eroica“-Phase in einigen alternativen Remix-Versionen praktiziert hat. Ein cooles Gemisch mit kultiger Underground-Atmo! Fazit: Mir persönlich sind die regulären Album Titel allerdings zum Zeitpunkt dieser Rezi etwas zu ruhig, die Party beginnt dann allerdings doch noch – nämlich mit den 3 „Bonus Dance Tracks“ – hier zeigt sich, dass der legendäre Käptn des Raumschiffs Enterprise auch das Tanzbein schwingen kann im geilen House-Funk-Groover „Tribute To James T. Kirk“ – knappe 5 Minuten mit 120 bpm – da hätte ich mir etwas mehr davon gewünscht von diesem kosmonautischen Stoff! Auch der „Minimal House Remix“ (112 BPM) von „Down“ überzeugt mit afrikanisch-tribalen Vibes und der Säuselstimme von KATE DILEMMA, der „Ready To Expolode Remix“ von “Broomsticks And Bitches“ kommt mit kathedralischer Orgel und interessanten Dub-Effekten.

Groovy sounds from the 7th House Project. The Cologne label Heyband.com has released the music of the German studio project. The mastermind responsible for the 14 songs is producer Michael Niel, who has secured the services of various artists to support him. The listener goes on a ramble through the history of electronic music - after the acid-jazz "Vampires!" the ambient title song "Insane" takes the listener to the "powerful" Bundesstrasse, the ears are immersed in the hypnotic underground ("Not Your Normal Girl"), which is refined by the soulful singing of Diane Jessurun. The Youtube Girlie had been the focus of my musical interest for the first time 6 years ago, when she sang and uploaded a fine cover version of the "Kansas"-classic "Dust In The Wind". Meanwhile more than 150.000 users have enjoyed this video.

The drum program in "Broomsticks And Bitches" reminds me strongly of the SIIS grooves of the 90s generated by Jazzie B. - the voice of EFFLUCENCE, on the other hand, reminds me of the fervent "speech singing" of a certain "Madonna", as she liked to practice it in some alternative remix versions at the time of her "Eroica" phase.  Conclusion: For me personally, the regular album titles are a bit too quiet at the time of this Rezi, but the party still begins - namely with the 3 "Bonus Dance Tracks" - here it shows that the legendary captain of the spaceship Enterprise can also dance in the horny House Funk Groover "Tribute To James T. Kirk" - barely 5 minutes with 120 bpm - I would have wished for a little more of this cosmonautic stuff! Also the "Minimal House Remix" (112 BPM) of "Down" convinces with African-tribal vibes and the whispering voice of KATE DILEMMA, the "Ready To Expolode Remix" of "Broomsticks And Bitches" comes with cathedral organ and interesting dub effects.

Wahnsinnig oder verrückt – so kann man den Albumtitel „Insane“ übersetzen. Aber hat das Album diesen Titel tatsächlich verdient und ist wahnsinnig gut oder ist es so verrückt, dass es nur für ein ebenso verrücktes Publikum geeignet ist? 

7th House Project ist der Name eines Projekts, das wahrscheinlich noch nicht allzu vielen bekannt ist. Macht aber nichts! Nein, nein – sicherlich nicht, weil dieser Sound nicht hörenswert ist, sondern weil 7th House Project gerade erst das Debütalbum „Insane“ herausgebracht hat und somit noch nicht allzu viele mit diesem Projekt in Verbindung gekommen sind. Das könnte sich aber bald ändern! Denn diese erste Scheibe hat einiges zu bieten, Electro-Fans werden hier eine Scheibe bekommen, die ihnen eine Menge Freude bereitet und so bald wohl nicht mehr aus dem CD-Player wegzudenken ist. 

Michael Niel, der übrigens hinter diesem Projekt steckt, hat es geschafft, auf „Insane“ eine gelungene Mischung zwischen instrumentalen und gesungenen Songs zu produzieren. Und das ist so gut gelungen, dass sich sogar diejenigen, die eigentlich mit elektronischer Musik nicht allzu viel anfangen können, „Insane“ mal anhören sollten. Ja, wir würden sogar so weit gehen und sagen, dass selbst Gothic-Fans zumindest mit dem ersten Song des Albums gut bedient sind.

Auch Depeche Mode-Fans und Kraftwerk-Fans könnten ihren Gefallen an „Insane“ finden, hat 7th House Project doch all diese Vorbilder auch in die eigene Musik einfließen lassen. Ihr seht schon: Auch auf dem elektronischen Gebiet ist einiges an Abwechslung möglich und diese wurde hier gut und deutlic h in Szene gesetzt. So gut, dass auch wir als Rock- und Metal-Fans gerne in Zukunft öfter mal in diese Dance-Scheibe auflegen werden!

Unser Fazit: "Ein sehr gelungenes Debüt, das nicht nur eingefleischte Elektro-Fans begeistern kann!"

Mad or crazy - that's how you can translate the album title "Insane". But did the album really deserve this title and is it insanely good or is it so crazy that it is only suitable for an equally crazy audience? 

7th House Project is the name of a project that probably isn't known to many yet. But it doesn't matter! No, no - certainly not because this sound is not worth listening to, but because 7th House Project has just released the debut album "Insane" and therefore not too many people have come into contact with this project yet. But that could change soon! Because this first record has a lot to offer, electro fans will get a record that will give them a lot of pleasure and will soon be an indispensable part of the CD player. 

Michael Niel, who by the way is behind this project, has managed to produce a successful mixture between instrumental and sung songs on "Insane". And this is so well done that even those who can't really do much with electronic music should listen to "Insane". Yes, we would even go so far as to say that even gothic fans are well served at least with the first song of the album.

Depeche Mode fans and Kraftwerk fans could also take a liking to "Insane", as 7th House Project has incorporated all these role models into their own music. As you can see: There's also a lot of variety in the electronic field and it's been well and clearly staged here. So good that we as rock and metal fans will be happy to play this dance disc more often in the future!
